Simple Homemade Solution Using Egg Yolk and Boric Acid to Kill Cockroaches

If cockroaches have found their way into your home, you know how difficult they can be to eliminate. These pests hide in places that are dark and moist, making the kitchen or basement ideal for them.

Instead of spending money on toxic sprays, you can create an easy homemade cockroach killer from just two common items: boric acid and egg yolk.

Mix three tablespoons of boric acid with one egg yolk to form a dough-like mixture. Roll the mixture into small balls and let them dry on parchment or wax paper for about an hour to harden.

Place these dried bait balls in places cockroaches frequent—under the sink, behind the fridge, inside cabinets, and laundry areas. The yolk lures the roaches, while boric acid kills them by attacking their stomach and nervous systems.

Keep bait away from children and pets by putting them in spots that are difficult to access.

Sometimes you may need to repeat this treatment once or twice because cockroach eggs can hatch after initial baiting. Over time, this inexpensive and less toxic solution can greatly reduce or eliminate cockroach problems without the negatives of commercial pest sprays.
